In this poem, Elise Ronan-Ulley evocatively describes how it is to be intrinstically tied to another being by a destructive force.
Arsonist
Heat dances against my skin
Etching meaning into my soul
The orange glow almost a halo
Settles my turbulent mind into
A soft lull of security
Tamed and silent in the wake of
This blazing inferno rising higher
And higher, devouring my flesh while
My mind grows still, satisfied by the burning
Before me slowly losing control, Our beings
In synchrony, honouring the need for destruction
That we both so desperately crave and is
Together we devour
And together we burn.
